  • Hello all!

I am currently on a "self-embarked" mission to update the Crossfire page on IMFDB.org, as it is tremendously outdated, and is in dire need of an update.

IMFDB or The Internet Movie Firearms Database is an online database of firearms used or featured in films, television shows, video games, and anime.

They have an extensive collection of, as said in the description, weapons from various forms of media. It's been a great source of identifying an accurate description of a weapon featured in said media, and what variant it may be. A game with a large collection of guns such as Crossfire would be interesting, and I would appreciate it if I could help update its page on IMFDB. Some of you might be asking "it would be fine to just head to the CF Wiki for such information", but I would kind of disagree (I don't know which is the right word for it, but hear me out). Some video games (like Call of Duty) also has a Wiki, yet they have perfectly detailed entries in IMFDB. My goal is for Crossfire to have that kind of detail, to at least satisfy anyone who is playing CF, and happen to visit IMFDB.

Now, I would ask for permission to use information on the Wiki and relay it to IMFDB:

Screenshots/Images: I am from the Philippines, and I am aware that there are some weapons that are not available to my nation's version of Crossfire, so maybe, I could use the images on said weapons on the Wiki to possibly use it on its entry on the Crossfire IMFDB page.

Descriptions: English isn't really my best language, and to maybe help simplify the weapon's description on the CF IMFDB page, I would like to use its description to, well, describe it. Also, in IMFDB, they have high regards to describing weapons, and one of those is that the weapons in CF does not have an option to select its mode of fire (Semi-auto, Full auto or Burst fire), the real version of a weapon (such as the M16A3 LMG being a loose variation of the Colt Automatic Rifle).

I hope that this may convince you, though you can ask me if there's something you want to clarify.

    Cheers!

    • Now that's a LOT of work for you to do. CrossFire features the highest number of firearms ever seen in a FPS game, as it includes obscure weapons like the Reibel Machine Gun (though still can't be bothered to include the Five Seven). It also has the most variations like the M4A1 which has RIS and CQBR variants.

I made an IMFDB page about an anime movie, and that took me hours and hours of work. Yours will take even longer I guarantee. I might help edit it sometime in the future.

    • Oh right, I forgot about the M4A1's riduculous amount of variants and special versions...welp. While some military-related pages on IMFDB does include such variants of the weapon, It may or may not be optional to add them. My initial focus was on the baseline weapons of Crossfire, then focus on the special variants later on. But it's actually great that there are a lot of guns, as I'll enjoy looking for its details, and could help me learn about a weapon, especially the rare ones.

    • UPDATE:

Partially filled the IMFDB page with new gun images. About to fill in the rest of the images missing.

Hey mate, I suggest you follow this rule: The real life gun image should have a size of 350px, while the in-game gun image size is 550px. This is for the sake of size uniformity.

    • also UPDATE

Noted on the size images. I just thought that they were too small. Also, we might have conflicted on the time of editing. I just added some SMG's  and a lot of descriptions available to the game that is missing from the IMFDB page, and almost panicked when I finished because it said someone has edited it as I finished it. But to sort of clarify things, I'm mostly working on the descriptions and the appopriate model picture of the weapon in CrossFire.

    • Oh that's why my edit that time seem to had problems finalizing. Sorry about that.

But anyway, keep adding the real life gun images along with their description. I shall add the in-game gun images later.

    • It's alright, no worries :D

Also, I just took a peek at your profile. Knowing that you are also Filipino and the fact that you have a lot of special variants of some weapons kind of makes me jealous, haha :P

    • UPDATE:

I'd say we're halfway through completing the IMFDB page, just need to add more firearm listings and their in-game images. Please keep adding descriptions, as I'm usually too tired to identify their optics or what-not.

And yes, I'm quite proud to own rare guns like the normal Raging Bull and the KS-23. Spent a lot of money on them, but I figure its worth it (as long as Gameclub don't give them away for free).

    • UPDATE:

I've been adding new images and info again recently. I'd say about 70% of the work is done.
