"Designed in Italy, this single-shot handgun is based on the frame of a conventional 1911-style pistol but adapted to fire larger cartriges."
- in-game description

Thor is a single shot pistol featured in CrossFire.

Overview[]

The Thor is the very first single-shot pistol in CrossFire. It offers high firepower (slightly weaker than the RSH-12), but can only fire a single bullet at a time before needing to reload. An exception to this is when its ammo capacity is boosted with VVIP weapons.

After each shot, it produces very high recoil, which also needs some time to cool down from the recoil. It has a very long reload time, making it unsuitable against multiple targets. And it has high accuracy to somewhat compensate for its weaknesses.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the 1 round capacity, the Thor is not among the "hand cannon" weapon class, most of the time only capable of dealing around 70-90 of damage with body/chest shots (though there's still a rare chance of instantly killing enemy) unless the victim is very close to the gun shot (headshot still instantly killing the enemy). Using this gun without VVIP boosts is all but impossible for average skilled players, and only experts are able to land headshots while ducking into cover between reloads.
  • CrossFire is the second client First Person Shooter game that features the EAA/Tanfoglio Thor pistol, while it is the third among all games to have it in-game (the first two games being Metal Gear Solid 4 and Contract Wars).
  • Unlike AR-50A1, the Thor has a proper delay between each shot, so when buffed up with VVIPs, it'll have a notably slow firing speed (about on par with Raging Bull). However, the reload animation is fixed so players will always put in only 1 round no matter how many rounds this gun has.
  • In real life, this gun also can be chambered for numerous rifle cartridges (e.g. .300 Winchester Magnum, .30-06 Springfield, etc.). But the In-game version uses the .45-70 Government. This cartridge was created after the US Civil War to replace .50-70 Gov which had a short life in service.
  • When this pistol's magazine capacity is boosted with VVIP weapons, it will have a notably extreme larger spare ammo in the pistol category. This is due to the fact that the spare ammo counting for the Thor is by multiples (can be stacked further with Mutation Magazine in all MM modes and the PVE modes), which means that giving it 2 extra bullets per reload will multiply your spare ammo count by 2. This also makes much longer in long battle so it will almost never running out of ammo.
  • In CF Russia & CF Vietnam, the Thor's reloading speed has been slightly buffed, which having faster reload speed compared to the other CrossFire versions.
  • Oddly, when magazine capacity is boosted, the firing hammer will automatically cocked itself after firing it more than 1 round. This also applied with Ammo Refill VVIP perk.
  • When a weapon user gets shot, the heavy recoil will instantly reset each time after firing.
  • In CF Philippines, this pistol recently suffered a firing noise glitch making it a 'silenced' upon been fired.
