L86 LSW is a light machine gun patterned after the L85A2 carbine, as the handguard is much shorter than the full-size L85A1 assault rifle.
This gun behaves more like an assault rifle rather than a machine gun as it combines good firepower and accuracy with medium-high recoil, light-weight and medium draw / reload time. It has a small magazine capacity of 30 rounds, bigger than the MG13 and CSRG M1915, but smaller than any other machine guns. It comes with 180 spare rounds though, allowing soldiers to last fairly long.

Trivia
- Due to the large amount of reverse ammo, L86 LSW is very dangerous when buffed up with RPK-Infernal Dragon. It can carry up to 150/1200 rounds (6 RPK-ID) in MMM/HM/HMX, far surpassing the M249 Minimi Gold.
