L86 LSW is a light machine gun patterned after the L85A2 carbine, as the handguard is much shorter than the full-size L85A1 assault rifle.
It behaves more like an assault rifle rather than a machine gun as it combines good firepower and accuracy with medium-high recoil, light-weight and medium draw / reload time.
It has a small magazine capacity of 30 rounds, bigger than the MG13 and CSRG M1915, but smaller than any other machine guns. It comes with 180 spare rounds though, allowing soldiers to last fairly long.

The L86 LSW is available in the following versions:
- China: Item shop, permanent for 18,000 GP.
- Europe: Capsule Shop (bundled with the AA-12 ).
- Latin America: Item Shop, permanent for 38,000 GP.
- North America: As an event exclusive prize.
- Russia: Capsule Shop (bundled with the REC-7)
