Hero (or Savior) is a special male character, available in Hero Mode and Mass Mutation Mode.
Overview[]
Described to be "Savoir of Mankind", Hero appears to be a high-ranking veteran commander who's been through countless battles against the Mutants. He wears a brown Beret with brown camouflage uniform, with shotgun ammo belt on his shoulder and waist. He carries a Remington 870 shotgun on his back, but never uses it, instead his signature weapon is a customized FAL Custom-Camo that comes with a functional M203 Grenade Launcher, making him a one-man-army among the soldier ranks.
Availability[]
Once the mutant countdown hits zero, one random soldier will become the Hero. Being the soldier's leader and can be seen anywhere by his tag, the Hero takes responsibility for helping his comrades fending off the mutants 'till the timer runs out. Use his rifle carefully and keep the grenades for dire situations. Hunt down the mutants if their number isn't high, and take the chance to refill ammo every once in a while through supply boxes so players can keep going with teammates. When in defense, always keep an eye for dangerous mutants such as Maidens and Assassins, and use a Genade Launcher to push them out if they happen to sneak in the defense place.
The Hero is now offered to the last few survived soldiers in the battle, which they can turn into by pressing E (similar to the process in Hero Mode X). The Heroes in this mode has better equipment, including the upgraded FAL-Camo that holds 80 rounds per magazine and has faster reloading speed and grenade launching speed. They cannot be infected, they can only be killed like other Heroes (but also respawns as a mutant).
If played in maps with Random Buff, Craft, Novice or Event turned on, one of the buff will allow several soliders to become Hero upon starting the round. The FAL-Custom Camo equipped by Heroes in this mode shares the same improved stats in Mutant Escape Mode, plus Heroes can pick up Hero Box and directly transform into Supreme Heroes.
Hero is available as supporting NPC in Elite PVE Mode. In Evil Mansion, the Hero joins players at the start of Round 4 and help shooting zombies with his signature FAL-Custom Camo, although he's unable to use the Grenade Launcher module. In Pentagon, Hero is one of the rare mercenaries available only in Stage 10, he has the best stats among all mercenaries and will provide great help with his firepower. In both map, the Hero will provide damage buff for 5 seconds every 45 seconds as long as he's alive (Evil Mansion) or recruited (Pentagon).

Special Character[]
In CF Vietnam, Hero is available as a special character, alongside Commando, Nemesis, Fury Ghost and the special form of The Fates, Switcher and Subject Alpha. Like Fury Ghost, players need to equip a special Tattoo for Hero to be usable in normal modes, which makes his face unrecognizable. Unlike the said character, Hero does not feature any special perk globally; however, when used in Hero Mode, players will always become Hero once the countdown hit zero.
Currently, there is only one player in CF Vietnam who has the Hero character in their storage after winning a VIP race in August 2018.
Trivia[]
- When the Hero is either killed or falling off the map in Mutant Escape Mode, the death sound is shared with dead Commando. However, after respawned as a mutant, the death sound of that mutant is still the same as the dead Hero. This is most likely a glitch. This later was fixed in the subsequent patches.
- Also, when pressing E to become Hero, the transforming sound also shared from Commando.
- Initially, Hero in Mutant Escape had 14000 HP, but it was later reduced to 7000 HP instead.
- After an update patch in CF Vietnam, this character incorrectly shows the glitched model view with bigger arms (but the hands and gloves are still correct) as it was taken from GR's long-sleeved arms model while it isn't applied for Hero. This hasn't been fixed yet.
