Void Rift

Void Rift is a Zombie Mode map located in a remote base in the mountains. This place is home to the powerful Void Overlord, who is assisted by three forceful henchmen and their respective minions in their own sectors.

Availability[]

  • Available in all CrossFire versions.

Description[]

The map returns to a maximum of five players, following Boss War and Titan Citadel's eight-player slots. Which was likely done for balancing purpose, surrounding the map's buff system, farming game-play, but also due to the smaller size of its four sectors. The map also sees the return of previous bosses as either summoned allies or foes back for revenge.

Details[]

Soldiers are thrown into the first three sectors at random, meaning they always end up in the plateau to face whichever form of the Void Overlord they've summoned. Once in a sector, they must fend themselves off for three minutes for the sector summon portal to appear or wait until the difficulty increases further to their liking. Here are the four sectors:

VoidRift Persona
This room contains two overloading generators that produce unsafe amounts of electricity that can harm nearby soldiers. This sector belongs to the Void Persona sub-boss and its minions: Brine Speedilos, Ancient Mole, Elite Hammerheads and the Skull Troopers. He can be stunned if there's enough firepower, and he got some skills which soldiers have to be aware:
  • Slash: He will simply slash whoever's close enough to his blade.
  • Electric Trap: Similar to Molotov Trap, he will throw a large amount of electric balls randomly. This skill is dangerous because he can throw at any place he wants, and sometimes it is gathered in one place, which can deal lethal damage to soldiers.
  • Electric Breath: Similar to Dragon Breath, he drinks some liquors, and then breath electric toward one soldier for several seconds.

VoidRift Crawler
This circular room contains hazardous bags hanging from the ceiling that can spew out small poisonous clouds around them. This sector is home of the Toxic Crawler sub-boss and its minions: Crawlers, Elite Disasters, Mechanical Crabs, Tick Queens and their Kamikaze Crawlers. Take note that Crawlers can poison soldiers, so players need to be careful. The Toxic Crawler got some skills which soldiers have to be aware:
  • Poison: It will target one soldier and run with fast speed to poison the enemy. This can be cured by using Shift skill.
  • Minion Summon: It can call a bunch of Kamikaze Crawlers and run toward soldiers nearby. This is dangerous as soldiers can die instantly if got hit.

VoidRift Engineer
This small canyon area contains few cracks on the floor that creates small lava geyser that will harm soldiers passing through them. This sector is where the Magma Engineer sub-boss and its minions reside: Ancient Moles, Bloated Kamikaze, Magma Demolishers and Elite Magma Demolishers. He got some skills which soldiers have to be aware:
  • Punch: He will simply punch to soldiers in his range.
  • Cannon Blast: He will stand in one place and release a series of cannonball to targeted soldiers.
  • Spin Attack: He still constantly spin toward soldiers with high damage.

VoidRift Overlord
This large floating platform in front of the titular rift is befallen by a curse that will constantly drain soldiers health points, slowly killing them. This is where soldiers face off against the towering Void Overlord and its Void Hound and Void Watchers minions.

As soldiers shoot at zombies, they gain soul points, which can be used at the buff shop by pressing the tilde key (tactical map key normally). From there, a selection of three random buffs will be available for purchase and it will change once a wave of zombies is cleared out. These buff will improve their chances against their upcoming fight with the Void Overlord.

Whenever a new batch are on their way (following a buff shop rotation), there's a chance that a random mutator will be applied, which will be displayed at the top of the screen. However, considering how weak these zombies are, since they are cannon fodders in this map, these mutators hardly affect the outcome of matches and could easily be ignored.

Players can receive special points that automatically redeem items from a linear set of rewards. These points can be obtained as difficulty increases (every three minutes, which caps at 100 when it reaches thirty minutes of play time on nightmare) and are collected when the boss is defeated.

Information[]

  • SS Rank Time Attack: 70 Points
  • 30 Minutes of Playtime: 30 Points
  • Starting Lives Left: Up to 2 (or 3)
  • Overlord Mace: 20 Points
  • Equip Void Point Item: 20 Points
  • First game of the day: x2 Points

The reward list contains four tiers, which increases the required amount of void points needed to unlock the prizes. Considering players are limited to five games a day to collect these points, they need to collect the maximum amount whenever possible (i.e void points item is not always easily available), with up to 858 points a day, for faster unlocks.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first map that disables the Radar completely (Due to the buff HUD), followed by Icy Abyss.
  • In CF Vietnam, Void Rift was supposed to receive a proper translated name (Vết nứt không gian) evident by patch notices and promotion articles, but upon release, the name is kept as "Crack in the void".
  • Being the first map to utilize Conqueror Point System, Void Rift features a few unique traits not found on subsequent map:
    • This is the only map to feature 30d reward for Bronze 1, and also the only map to feature a permanent A-Z gun on its list.
    • Void Rift is the only map to feature character scruples along with temporary variant in the reward list, whereas newer maps sell the characters in its Token Shop.
    • This is the only map to feature 3 Melee weapons (Persona Blade-Void/Rage and Overlord Mace) in its reward pool, newer maps only feature two.
    • Unique to other map, Void Rift features a Bonus Conqueror Point card (7d) in its prize pool, adding another 20 points toward player's total at the end of the match. This makes grinding this map a bit trickier, as players must plan their way carefully to maximize the effect of this card. Ideally, it's best to obtain this card at the end of the day, so players will have a maximum of 35 games to use with this card for the next 7 days.
    • This is the only map to feature the Reward List Reset as an actual prize on Diamond 5 tier, newer maps simply reward players with this item as soon as Diamond 10 is cleared. This poses a huge risk for players who are grinding to get the Holy Shotgun, as the Reward List Reset sits in their storage for days before they can clear Diamond 10 (It'd take at least 10 days to get from Diamond 5 to Diamond 10 due to the 5-games limit), and should their account be compromised, someone could easily reset the list, forcing them to grind again from the beginning.
  • CF Philippines added this map after Zombie Extra Mode is added.
  • The five games per day limit is reset everyday or following a server maintenance. Therefore, if any urgent server maintenance takes place mid-day and players already used up the limit, it'll be reset, doubling the amount of points they can get for said day.
    • Servers that reset the limit on morning instead of midnight means players may be able to take advantage of update schedule to get additional limit on day one. For example, if limit is reset on 6:00am and Icy Abyss is successfully updated at 2:00am, you can finish 5 games by 5:30am, and gain another 5 games by 6:00am when the limit reset.
  • Upon using the Reward List Reset, the limit would appear to be reset as well. However, after playing one game, this will be corrected and players will see their proper limit before using the reset card.
    • In CF PH, there is currently a bug on the Reward List Reset that will not reset the progress or reward of the players who reached Diamond 10 (30 HSG pieces) which is frustrating since the players cannot obtain the weapon permanently by going after the remaining 50 pieces supposedly after the reset. Fortunately, this does not use the Reset ticket but does use up the players' time waiting for a patch to fix this out. This issue has been fixed.
    • There's a way to play more than 5 games per game day by going back to a custom server (not a public match), then joined a room, so the players will have an additional 5 games, total of 10 games per day. This issue has been fixed.
  • There's a fixed amount of buff that can max out players' stat, divided evenly between each sector. If players keep buying buff, eventually the Buff Shop will be "Sold Out" and no more buffs can be bought until the next section.
    • The best way to achieve this is start with 3 players and have The Volcano as the first sector (Restart until you get it). Keep buying buff including F skill ones, but save the useful ones (special ammo) for last. Save up about 40,000 Soul Points before the boss fight, and you should have enough to grab everything else in the remaining sectors. Note that single buff will run out first, then all that's left in the Buff Shop are double buffs, which requires lots of Soul Points to buy all.
  • The rift of the first sector appears at the 3 minute mark, while the last stage (stage 10) is reached at 27 minutes on Nightmare difficulty.
