"An assault rifle manufactured by industry leader FN. With its low weight and low recoil plus the added power, this rifle is of superior value."
- Weapon Description

SCAR Light is an assault rifle featured in CrossFire.

Overview

The SCAR Light is one of the FN SCAR variants (along with SCAR Heavy) developed by FN Herstal and chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge.

This gun is very powerful, accurate, and lightweight, with fast reloading and drawing speed compared to SCAR Heavy. Even at a far distance, SCAR Light can be fired full-auto and still be fairly accurate. This makes SCAR Light a good choice for beginners.

Its downside is that it has medium-high recoil but yet still able to be controlled, so bursting at far range and full-auto recoil in close and medium combat is recommended. It also has quite loud firing sound, allowing enemies to easily identify users of the SCAR Light. Moreover, due to its fast firing rate, it easily run drys during the battle.

It uses a standard 30-round magazine capacity, like many other assault rifles. Some versions, however, have the magazine carrying up to 35 rounds.

Trivia

  • There is a glitch with the original SCAR-L model, showing broken fingers on characters model in HUD, which occurs when players used female characters (GR side) and SCAR-L with the original model (original, Red Dragon, Gold, and E-Sport).
    • However, only the original, Red Dragon and Gold variants are suffered from this glitch. The only one that doesn't show broken fingers is the TT Esport variant.
    • Also, in some versions, on 3rd person view, the character holds the gun incorrectly with their left hand holding an invisible front grip that doesn't exist in SCAR-L. This is probably because the animation was reused from SCAR-Heavy, but this problem only exists on a few variants such as the original and Red Dragon variants (depends on versions). All other SCAR-L variants reuse the 3rd person animation from other rifles (Ex: M4A1 / AK47).
    • Also, in some versions, the killmark icon is reused from the SCAR-H but with the "L" word on it. While some versions use a unique killmark icon for SCAR-L but still have the "L" word on it and an incorrect magazine size (from the orignal SCAR-H), albeit with a short barrel and no handgrip. This doesn't affect the HUD icon, however.
    • In CF China & CF Philippines, all SCAR-L variants have unique firing sound, while some versions have its firing sound borrowed from SCAR-H. Newer SCAR-L variants (such as SCAR-L USS, SCAR-L Virgo and SCAR-L UGS) also have unique firing sound in most versions.
  • For a while, people often get annoyed when get killed by this gun because some players that can't aim can use it to spray and kill because of its superior stats. Some people will yell "SL noob" when killed by this weapon. In CF Philippines, a few people dub it the "Scar Gay". Along with the M12s, the Crossfire community looks down on those who use it.
    • However, that issue is quite rare nowadays (including the M12s) due to the appearance of the JHP-ammunition SMGs (such as Steyr TMP).
  • In many CF versions, SCAR Heavy was first introduced and the SCAR Light followed later. Due to SCAR Light's better stats, it's much more popular than SCAR Heavy.
    • This is also probably the reasons why SCAR Heavy received fewer variants compared to the SCAR Light.
  • In CF Philippines, SCAR Light's accuracy and recoil was nerfed. The firing sound was also been changed, its firing sound is now shared with CF China (which is like a can bouncing to the ground). Despite the changes, it is still popular with Filipino players.
    • The new firing sound also applies to all available SCAR-Light variants. except SCAR Light-Gold in CF Philippines.
  • It has a different reload animation in CF Mobile.
