Icy Abyss

Icy Abyss is a Zombie Mode map that brings soldiers to familiar locations, then having them face off against the Freezing Guardian. It works similarly to Void Rift, but features areas from the following maps: Valkyrie Lab, Broken Station, and Fatal Canyon.

Availability[]

  • CF China: Abyss Ice Dragon's Nest
  • CF West: Frozen Abyss
  • CF Russia: Icy Abyss
  • CF Brazil: Ice Walls
  • CF Vietnam: Ice Abyss
  • CF Philippines: Frozen Abyss

Description[]

Just like its predecessor, the map has three different sectors before the final sector with the final boss waiting. This time, these three sectors feature layout from maps across all three of the main Zombie Modes, which are Valkyrie Lab's outer square (ZM1), Broken Station's plaza (ZM2), and Fatal Canyon's hoover dam (ZM3).

Detail[]

Soldiers are thrown into the first three sectors at random, meaning they will always end up at the frozen plateau to face whichever form of the final boss they've summoned. Although these sectors don't have any damaged loopholes to hurt soldiers, random ice/fireballs will constantly drop instead, so players need to keep an eyes on these obstacles. Once in a sector, they must fend themselves off for three minutes for the sector summon portal to appear or wait until the difficulty increases further to their liking.

Abyss Haze
This outdoors area from Valkyrie Lab features many enemies spawns as they jump out of every sniper nests and others doorways on the ground floor. This sector now belongs to Dr. Haze' and her minions: Spitters, Demolishers, Elite Disaster, Tick Queens (and Kamikaze Crawlers), plus void sub-bosses.

Abyss Destroyer
This closed off section of Broken Station's plaza features enemies spawning from the side buildings or by dropping off the bridge. This sector is guarded by the Abyss Destroyer and its army of: Crawlers, Ancient Moles, Bloated Kamikaze, Mechanical Crabs and Elite Hammerheads, plus void sub-bosses.

Abyss Scorpion
The ARES dam area from Fatal Canyon now allows soldiers to go at the bottom via an access ramp. This sectors is where the Abyss Scorpion resides with its minions: Speedilos, Skull Troopers, Mortar Bots and Magma Demolishers, plus void sub-bosses.

Abyss Guardian
This frozen cliff is where the soldiers will have to face off against the Freezing Guardian. The boss can move from one side to another to keep soldiers on their toes. As the beast's health gets low; soldiers will get to visit the inside of the beast and be able to attack its heart.

The map uses the same buffs from Void Rift, but with some notable additions. These includes: four defense buffs, two soul buffs, ten new bonus buffs that soldiers can potentially unlock when buying specific buffs. The map also uses only one new mutator, which will help soldiers gain some extra soul points.

The Soul Skills are the same with Void Rift, with a new exclusive one called Penguin Burst, which players must earn and equip to be used in Icy Abyss (Toggleable with the classic Soul Skill by pressing Alt + F). Penguin Burst summons a stuffed Penguin that throws Snowballs to damage zombies, then plant an Icy C4 before disappearing to damage and slow down additional foes around the blast. It functions the same as the summoned Longbill, but has a faster firing speed and longer attacking range.

Players can receive special points that automatically redeem items from a linear set of rewards. These points can be obtained as difficulty increases (every three minutes, which caps at 100 when it reaches thirty minutes of play time on nightmare) and are collected when the boss is defeated.

Information[]

  • SS Rank Time Attack: 70 Points
  • 30 Minutes of Playtime: 30 Points
  • Starting Lives Left: Up to 2 (or 3)

The reward list contains four tiers, which increases the required amount of void points needed to unlock the prizes. Considering players are limited to five games a day to collect these points, they need to collect the maximum amount whenever possible (i.e void points item is not always easily available), with up to 858 points a day, for faster unlocks.

Tier # of Prizes Points per prizes Total points per tiers Total Amount
Bronze Tier 5 100 500 500
Silver Tier 10 200 2000 2500
Gold Tier 25 300 7500 10000

Trivia[]

  • Being the second map with Conqueror Point system, Icy Abyss also features a few unique traits not found on others:
    • This is the only map that features all 3 variants of its ultimate prize in the Reward list, allowing players to try out all of them before deciding to grind out the rest.
    • Icy Abyss is the only map to contain 70 scruples of its ultimate prize, allowing players to obtain this gun in just 1.5 pass instead of 2.
    • This map has no exclusive character and only contain 1 Melee weapon, whereas other maps features at least 2.
    • Icy Abyss is the first Zombie conqueror map to contain exclusive costumes that grants increased critical rates. It also features three set (Pink, Black and Gold) instead of just two like subsequent maps. These are also the only costumes with 2 pieces that provides 10% crit increases (Arcadia requires 3 pieces).
    • Icy Abyss is the only map to contain 2 ultimate A-Z gun (Gatling Gun-Wild Shot Abyss Blue and AK47-Buster Ice), of which the latter was removed from the prize pool upon release for unknown reason.
  • It's hard to judge the timeline of this map, as it obviously comes some times after Valkyrie Lab and Broken Station due to the debris and sealed off UFO crash, but clearly before Fatal Canyon as the dam is still standing. Because it features Dr. Haze in a weaker form, it must come after Titan Citadel which technically comes after Fatal Canyon, but the event is set before Crater.

Glitches[]

  • In Valkyrie section, Elite Crawlers can spawn on the second floor and jump out of the three windows that doesn't have debris beneath them. If they're killed by explosive weapons, the minions generated from their explosion will get stuck inside the windows and can't be shot at, as they're too small and out of view. Players will have to use grenades or A-Z weapon's charged ammo to damage and kill them, or just summon the boss early if no one have A-Z weapons with charged shot.
  • If a player dies while under the slowed down effect caused by icicles, they will be stuck in this state upon respawn until the match ends.
  • In CF Vietnam, the Void's sub-bosses that spawn after every 2 waves can sometimes be glitched and inherit their toughness from Void Rift, meaning they have a lot more HP, attack aggressive and recover very fast when stunned, however their attacks aren't too deadly. If this happen, players must fully concentrate on killing them the moment they spawn, otherwise they'll become a real headache once the hordes spawn in.
    • The opposite glitch can happen in Void Rift as well, now the three sector's bosses only have x20 HP bar, even though they still deal a lot of damage with their attacks.
    • The only advantage of this glitch is that if all players have no more spare lives and used a revive or the respawn timer runs out, the sub-bosses will be stuck: on the corner of the ramp (Hoover Dam), on a metal beam near the entrance for the sub-bosses (Valkyrie Lab). They will not bother the players at all, giving the players easier time to grind, as long as they do not kill the unresponsive sub-boss so that after each wave, no sub-boss will be spawned.
    • The sign of the sub-bosses getting Void Rift stats is that players cannot use their F ability (Soul Skill), even though the skill has not been used. Best case scenario: the bug will be gone after the player has respawned. Worst case: the player cannot even use the skill up to the final boss. It is recommended that all must quit the room and start over, this bug may occur immediately after 10 seconds of starting or at least the 2nd time the Soul Skill was used.
  • In CF Philippines, when a players will face a final boss, there's a chance to encounter a client error.
  • Players using the Gatling Gun-Wild Shot Abyss Blue and its upgraded variants may encounter a huge movement speed nerf (moving alarmingly slow), and will still continue to do so even if the player has dashed, dropped, or switched to other weapons.
