FAMAS is a bullpup assault rifle designed and manufactured in France. Its low recoil creates good stability with a strong cycle rate & damage power.
- Weapon Description

FAMAS F1 (or simply FAMAS) is an assault rifle in CrossFire.

Overview[]

FAMAS is a bullpup-styled assault rifle designed and manufactured in France, served as the service rifle of the French military before being replaced by HK416F in 2017. Compared to other Rifles, it has a smaller magazine of 25 rounds, which will run dry very fast thanks to its high firing speed. It also has a notably high recoil, despite its bullpup design, making spraying rather unadvised. The draw and reload speed is only about average as well.

FAMAS is one of the first rifle to feature Burst Fire Mode (Alongside the XM8-3 Shot), making it very powerful at close to medium range. However, the firing speed is severely limited, and the three rounds tend to fly all over the crosshair rather than homing in on the center, making it useless at long range.

Due to its considerable drawbacks, especially its poor accuracy for continuous shots, the FAMAS is rarely seen in-game.

Trivia[]

  • This gun have different firing sound in beta version, also much louder, as can be seen in one of New Deathmatch gameplay footages.
  • This gun has an unusual reload glitch - after pressing R, there is 0.5s delay before the reload animation is shown. Another weapon that also has this issue is VZ-58.
  • In real life, this gun produces loud firing noise when firing, but the in-game one is much quieter.
  • In real life, there is a variant of FAMAS F1, which is FAMAS G2. It featured a larger trigger guard, a redesigned magwell and magazine catch accepting STANAG magazine, a small hand-guard protrusion (bump) on the front of fore-stock under the muzzle and a 1/9 rifling, instead of the 1/12 rifling of the F1, but only served as the secondary issue for the French Army.
    • FAMAS G2 was updated in CrossFire in much later years, and performs better than the F1 as it has higher accuracy, higher damage, faster firing speed, faster reloading speed, faster drawing speed and has lower recoil. However, the magazine size is same as the F1 version (30 rounds) which is illogical.
  • The military version of FAMAS F1 has barrel groove and range adjuster which intended for Grenade Launcher. In CrossFire however, there is lack of groove on the barrel, while the adjustor was placed on the back which is incorrect.
    • Due to this it should be known as civilian version of FAMAS or MAS .223. The civilian version of FAMAS removes full-auto/burst capability, alongside with grenade launching capability by removing its grenade sight and barrel groove.
  • In CF Vietnam, its Bag Icon is mistakenly named FAMAS G2.
  • In CF China, the weapon bag icon name of this weapon is incorrectly categorized as FAMAS G2.
