Mutants are special characters available in Mutation Mode and all variants. They are infected soldiers with increased HP and only melee attacks, and their objective is to hunt down and infect all the soldiers in the map before the timer runs out. All players start with a default Mutant (Dread or Slug) and the other mutants are available to buy via the Item Shop, except Xeno as he belongs to Hero Mode X only and any player can be chosen to become Xeno randomly
